The Tate Modern is a crazy amazing home for modern art in downtown London. Formerly the Bankside Power Station, it is a huge museum. It has a cavernous hallway that used to house the turbines there, and is now a rotating exhibit hall. So awesome.
So our man Mark Rothko was finally given a commission for an entire space!
It was what he always wanted!
An area where he could cover the walls with his panels, his murals. A place where he could wrap the viewers in…a feeling…a sense…something that he could never achieve with a single painting!
What are Extracts? Extracts are like…”Essence of Vanilla,” “Essence of Cinnamon,” “Essence of Molasses,” sort of thing…they use them in baking.

Yours truly is going on and on about Rothko…how impactful (good word, right?!) his work has been…how the colors vibrate and take you to another dimension….

I’d like to take a New York Minute and talk about Michelangelo. No…the other Michelangelo.
I am talking about Michelangelo Caravaggio. I am certain there were even OTHER Michelangelos…I mean probably hugely popular name right?
The Knights of St. John’s Co-Cathedral were a group of Christian Soldiers.
These guys got together back in the day of the Crusades. I wanna say the 11th century or so. Starting out as more armed escorts than pastors, these Knights worked tirelessly, all in the name of the Big Dog upstairs.

GR:I mean for reals?! I mean we love him! Dang..now I am bummed. I mean Mr. C. has gone through a lot just in this part of his life.
I like visiting art museums. Some museums are freakin' big deals with marble floors, tour guides, and national treasures and stuff. Other museums I’ve seen are a bit more off the beaten path...where you have things like Mt. Rushmore recreated with Shrimp flavored Ramen noodles. Just sayin…you just don’t know…it’s a big world out there.
